Travelling West on M4

Here are links for 2 suitable maps, the first is from the motorway, and the second is of the local area for Touchwood

Finding Touchwood, 4 Clyne Valley Cottages, Killay, Swansea, SA2 7DU, from travelling west on the M4

After Port Talbot, take Junction 42 to Swansea onto the A483, for about 4 miles into Swansea.  It will take about 25-30 minutes from that junction to Touchwood.

The road becomes the A4067 going towards Mumbles and Gower.  Pass St Helen's cricket/rugby ground on RHS, the beach is to your left.

Follow the signs for Swansea Airport, so just after the traffic lights to turn into the University on your right, get in right lane to turn at the next traffic lights onto the A4216 (Sketty Lane, you pass Singleton Hospital on the RHS)

Bear right at mini-roundabout, through next traffic lights and to top of hill where you turn left at the T-junction onto Gower Road (A4118)

After about 1.5 miles (straight over 2 roundabouts) you go through Killay (small dual carriageway, shopping precinct on RHS), bear left at the mini-roundabout, past St Hillary's Church on LHS just before you drop down the hill . (You're still on Gower Road, going towards Gower and the Airport)

Half-way down the hill, there's 2 turnings to the left, take the second into Clyne Valley Road. (The first is to 'The Dell', then, 2 houses later is our turning)

The road is about 100 yds long and looks as if it ends in a field, but at that point it bends to the right (partly tarmaced) and we're the fourth house.  There's usually plenty of parking on the made-up road (Clyne Valley Road), please DON'T park in our narrow lane as it's likely to obstruct neighbours.  Thanks .Extra parking? Well, at the top of the hill you came down, the Gower Road is very wide and there's parking there (except when church services are on), the hill itself is too narrow and dangerous to park, but at the bottom of the hill by the Railway Inn there's a car park for Clyne Valley Country Park as well as for the pub itself.

Getting back to the M4 at Baglan:

At the end of Clyne Valley road turn right, onto A4118, bear right at mini-roundabout through Killay, over 2 roundabouts, traffic lights, down hill, up hill and turn Right (which will become the A4216) towards Singelton Hospital.

Through traffic lights, left at mini-roundabouts and past the hospital down towards the coast, where you turn left onto the A4067, and keep going following M4 signs.

Travelling East on M4

Links for suitable maps, the first is the larger area, and the second is the more local area

Touchwood is about 40 mins travel from leaving Carmarthen on the dual carriageway to Swansea, via the M4

Take the M4 Junction 47, (Swansea, West; and Gorseinon).  From the motorway roundabout it's the 4th turning (at about 1pm on the roundabout 'clock'): the A483 to Swansea.

At the next roundabout go right to Gowerton on the A484.  This will mean going straight over next roundabout.

At the next roundabout, turn left onto the B4296 and into Gowerton.  Under railway bridge, over traffic lights and then left at next lights.

Now 2nd right (First right is a no-entry in that direction), which is a continuation of the B4296 through Dunvant and to Killay.

At Dunvant there are major bends as you enter the 30MPH limit, and at mini-roundabout go left up steep hill over a skew bridge.

Contiinue around right-angle bend, over small mini roundabout and straight away enter outside lane to turn right at next mini-roundabout. (Killay shops and the Black Boy pub were along the road on the left of that mini roundabout). Note: your sat-nav may encourage you to turn right at the first mini-roundabout rather than the main one on Gower Road...you have been warned!

You are now on Gower Road, Killay, going out towards Gower and the airport, passing St Hillary's church on left at brow of hill.

Thanks.
Extra parking? Well, at the top of the hill you came down, the Gower Road is very wide and there's parking there (except when church services are on), the hill itself is too narrow and dangerous to park, but at the bottom of the hill by the Railway Inn there's a car park for Clyne Valley Country Park as well as for the pub itself.

To get back to the M4

From Clyne Valley road turn right up the hill, then left at mini-roundabout.  Continue around tight bend by petrol station and down steep hill with skew bridge.

(If you want to go to the local nursery, then go straight over mini-roundabout, up hill and follow through until it becomes a narrow county lane.  The stud farm and nursery are on RHS, parking just inside and walk back on yourself to the right.)

Go right at mini-roundabout, round bends and through to Gowerton.  Follow Motorway signs.  So left at T-junction, then right at traffic lights.
Through next traffic lights, under railway bridge and right at roundabout.

Straight over next roundabout and left at next, then second left at motorway roundabout onto M4 west-bound.
